DC Fellowship: "An amazing experience!"
>>Tue Apr 3, 2012
The 11 Fellows continue to meet with their coaches and mentors to move their projects forward. Overwhelmingly positive feedback has been coming in from the mentors, coaches and Fellows about how much they have enjoyed meeting and working together. Meanwhile the Steering Committee has been connecting the Fellows to others in the community for additional help. The Steering Committee members look forward to getting more involved as the planning process for Launch Night begins.
PresenTense just facilitated their most recent seminar where the Fellows learned how to develop effective business models for their social ventures.
On March 21st fellows learned about fundraising at a roundtable with Avital Ingber, Chief Development Officer at The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington.
Over 75 individuals have already stepped up to support the Fellowship in a variety of ways and the excitement is building around the long term benefits this program will have in the Greater Washington Jewish community.
And - check out the DC fellows' blog to learn about their "amazing experience" and how they've been building their projects over the course of the fellowship.
Clean the Land: Launched at Masa BFL 2012
>>Tue Mar 27, 2012

Dan Barnett, Max Friedenberg, Sam Silverlieb, and Joel Wanger, all participants in Masa's Israel Government Fellows program, had been complaining about the trash and litter strewn about Israel's parks and trails. But they hadn't really thought about a realistic way to combat it until an IdeaSlam at Masa's Bringing Future Leadership (BFL) conference last week.
At the initial IdeaSlam, run by PresenTense, they came up with the idea for Masa participants in programs across Israel to get together for one day to pick up trash and, well, Clean the Land. And that's how their venture was born.

After brainstorming the idea, they built a vision, envisioned what their project would look like 5 years in the future, created a website (CleantheLand.org) and Facebook page, and finessed their pitch.
PresenTense at Masa BFL, in one word: "Awesome!"
>>Wed Mar 21, 2012
Yesterday, PresenTense had a blast teaching at the second Masa BFL (Bringing Future Leadership) Conference in Jerusalem. BFL brings together more than 500 young adults on long-term Israel programs for a week of leadership seminars, and we're thrilled to train more than 100 of them.
Lior, Michal, Brachie, Michael, Ariel, and Aharon are teaching sessions at the Networks of Purpose track, training participants on project management, "friendraising," and the latest digital tools, to help them mobilize their friends and peers around a cause or idea they care about.
Check out the rave reviews from two of yesterday's participants!
Jewish Kids Groups: Impacting the Atlanta community
>>Tue Mar 13, 2012

From Jewish Kids Groups founder Ana Fuchs (Global Institute 2011):
In three short years, JKG’s one-day-a-week pilot has grown from 6 to 65 children and reached capacity.
In August 2012, JKG will expand its pilot program and launch a new Afterschool Community, which will combine a first-rate Jewish education with the services of an afterschool care program, and serve working families with children from pre K- 5th grade, Monday through Friday.
While being open and available to all Jewish families, Jewish Kids Groups Afterschool Community will target Atlanta’s Jewish children who have not received any Jewish education. According to the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta 2006 Centennial Study, sixty-seven per cent (67%) of children ages 6-17, who are reported as being raised Jewish in intermarried Jewish households, have not had any Jewish education...
Jewish Kids Groups Foundation (a 501c3, tax-exempt organization) has received support from the Steindhardt Foundation, PELIE and several Atlanta family foundations and is raising contributions, submitting proposals to family foundations, planning fundraising events and applying for grants to cover its start-up deficit and initial operating deficit.
