FedHeads

What it is: FedHeads is a monthly working-group series bringing together Federation professionals from across North America in a moderated conference call forum to raise common challenges and develop informed, innovative solutions. If you are a Federation professional, FedHeads can help connect you to your peers and provide you with best practices to help further the success of your work and pioneer new opportunities.

Methodology: FedHeads features six conference call sessions, two on each of three topics, to be voted upon by the group. During the first of the two sessions, one federation professional presents a dilemma or challenge he or she is facing in their work. This progresses into a workshop where the professional's peers clarify the issue at hand then suggest solutions. During the alternating session, an expert in the field will lead the group in an in-depth exploration of the topic and its meaning in the participants’ work.

Content: FedHeads will focus on 3 topics voted on by the group, around which the participants share challenges, receive peer feedback, and learn new strategies and techniques. This year's topics may include:

  • Inspiring volunteer leadership: Enabling meaningful and relevant experiences from 20-120
  • Leading from the inside: Creating change within the workplace
  • Multigenerational collaboration: Teamwork towards the cause
  • Traditional vs. innovative programming: Balancing organizational needs
  • Creating productive dialogue around uncomfortable topics: Encouraging open conversations
